Prosecutors said that Jones had messaged at least 30 girls prior to his 2017 arrest. He was charged for receiving sexually explicit content from six underage girls. His sentencing took place on May 3, and he was sentenced to 10 years in a federal prison.

Jones had over 500,000 subscribers on YouTube, and regularly uploaded covers of popular songs, even going as far as to tour the US in 2016. However, he stopped uploading to YouTube in 2017 after he was accused of sexual misconduct against minors, resulting in his arrest in June of that same year.

He was released on the basis home confinement and not using the internet, after paying a $100,000 bond. Then, in February of 2019, he pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography.

His online conversations with the girls took place on Facebook Messenger and iMessage, spanning from 2010 to 2017. In the messages, he asked them to send graphic videos and photos of themselves performing sexual acts, engaging with girls as young as 14.

He had previously uploaded videos to his YouTube channel discussing the matter and insisting that, while the allegations were true, he only asked fans for ‘twerking’ videos, and that no nudity was involved. Following his guilty plea, his YouTube channel was terminated on February 7, 2019.

The YouTuber was sentenced on May 3.

YouTube first claimed that Jones' content was not directly related to his criminal charges, they quickly removed his account for "violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines" as events became clearer.

He would instruct the girls on how they should expose themselves in the videos before they sent them to him. "At the beginning, get super close and say these lines: hey Austin, it's (name) and this butt is (age) years old and then make it clap for 30 seconds. Got it?" Jones wrote on Facebook to one of the girls.

The Department of Justice said that Jones would also tell the girls that they "were part of a modeling opportunity, and that he could assist them in gaining followers on Instagram.”
