Popular World of Warcraft streamer Asmongold has been accused of quitting other games due to low viewer counts – and he’s hitting back at these claims in full force.

Asmongold released a statement on the issue on February 15, after clips surfaced of the streamer quitting FPS title Metro Exodus and Metroidvania-style game Hollow Knight due to apparent frustration over poor viewer counts.

In his statement, Asmongold claimed that he’d quit his streams because he wasn’t having fun playing the games, rather than being disappointed at a lack of viewer engagement.

“You think I quit because of the viewer count?” Asmongold explained. “I had 10k viewers playing Apex the other day. I was happy. …I don’t have fun playing these other fucking games.”

Asmon went on to call single-player games “bullshit,” and felt like he was “outsourcing” his stream to a “cinematic” when playing such titles.

Despite his claims, Asmongold appeared to have quit playing Hollow Knight specifically due to a low view count, as stated during his livestream of the game.

“Obviously, people don’t like watching the game,” Asmon stated in a clip from his stream. “I don’t want to kill my channel and lose a ton of viewers because people don’t like the game.”

Fans of the streamer expressed disappointment that he’d quit the games, with some commenters feeling that anything but WoW is outside of Asmon’s wheelhouse, ultimately causing him to get frustrated with other titles.

While Asmongold is best known for his World of Warcraft streams, he has likewise delved into popular battle royale titles Fortnite and Apex Legends, both of which he claims to have fun playing.
