Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury officially announced

Tommy Fury has hit back against Jake Paul’s claims that he almost didn’t agree to the match by pivoting the focus onto Paul’s alleged refusal to sign up for drug testing.

Fury has hit back against Paul’s recent string of tweets and trash talk, firing back against the 27-year-old American boxer and calling him out for his supposed hesitancy in signing up for drug testing.

On Instagram, Fury posted a short video, outlining that he allegedly waited “weeks and weeks for Jake Paul to sign up to the drug testing,” putting their “fight at risk” in the process.

He then went on to add that, “we’ve agreed to a contract that we’re happy with so the fight is going ahead.”

While the two were originally set to face off last year, Fury was forced to pull out of the match due to a last-minute injury. This then led to Paul’s rematch with former UFC champ Tyron Woodley.

In the past week, back and forth online exchanges between Paul and Fury have been constant. Ahead of their fight, the two have been calling each other out and insinuating that the other is too scared to go ahead with their highly anticipated bout.

Rumours of a rescheduled match between the two have been rampant for months, it was only earlier this week that the ball really got moving and it was set in stone and announced publicly.

On June 22, Paul sent out a tweet to Fury, challenging him to the fight and giving him 24 hours to accept the offer.

“Tommy Fury, you pulled out last year. Then you agree to fight me now, but your dad is trying to pull you out again?”

He then continued by stating, “we’ve given you everything you asked for,” adding that Fury had, “24 hours to clear this up or I will never give you this opportunity again.”

When will Paul vs Fury be fighting?

The fight between Fury and Paul is scheduled to go ahead on August 6, 2022. It will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The official press conference for the match will be held on Wednesday, June 29, with pre-sale tickets going up on the same day.
