OfflineTV members Albert ‘SleightlyMusical’ Chang and Sarah ‘AvocadoPeeled’ Lee have come under fire because of their apologies to Chang’s former girlfriend, Lily ‘LilyPichu’ Ki, after being caught out having an affair.

Rumors started to unfurl in mid-November that the two had been having an affair, with several other members of the OfflineTV streamer group subtweeting on November 10, 2019.

On the same day, LilyPichu put out a TwitLonger explaining that she is no longer with Chang, apologizing for her friends’ tweets and saying that she still loves and cares about both her friends and her ex-boyfriend very much, with no mention of his infidelity.

It wasn’t until a couple of days later that Chang confirmed he had been unfaithful in a TwitLonger posted on November 12, apologizing for his behavior. This was followed by a post from Lee, confirming she was the other half of the affair.

While an apology from both parties seems fair, it didn’t take long for fans to pick up on something peculiar with their apologies – in that they looked almost identical.

SleightlyMusical’s apology:

“I made the worst decision of my life. I chose to be unfaithful to Lily, and caused her an excruciating amount of pain. I’m incredibly sorry for my selfish and irredeemable behavior. I betrayed her trust and love for me, and for that, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to atone for it. I’ll be taking an indefinite hiatus from content creation to reflect and spend some time alone.

I’m sorry for the people I’ve hurt in all of our communities, I’m sorry for the friends I let down at Offline.TV, and most of all I’m sorry for hurting you, Lily.”

AvocadoPeeled’s apology:

“No one deserves the level of pain I caused, especially not Lily: someone who has only shown me kindness. My choices were immensely selfish, and the levels of betrayal go beyond repair. She does not deserve to suffer like this. Nothing I write could ever be enough, nothing I say could possibly change anything. It will never be enough. There is only reparation in who I choose to be from here on out. I will be taking time away from the public for self-reflection.

I’m sorry for the extreme hurt I’ve caused to everyone in the communities, to those who I could once call ‘friend’, and to Lily most of all. I’m so sorry.”

Although the wording is mostly different, the format and patterns of what they say is incredibly similar, with many fans even conspiring that the two came up with their apologies together.

Starting by directly addressing Lily and how much pain they caused her, both apologies then mention how they betrayed her and that they will be able to “atone” or “repair” the damage caused. Both then mention that they will be taking time away to reflect on what has occurred. The pair use similar words throughout their apologies, with both addressing the “hurt” they’ve caused to people in their “communities.”

In particular, the final paragraphs of each apology are almost word-for-word identical, which definitely brings into dispute the sincerity of the apologies. It’s unlikely anybody involved will choose to address these particular allegations, especially considering the nature of the situation they’re involved in, but it’s unlikely to die down for a while.

Neither Chang, Lee or Ki have spoken publicly since making their statements on the incident, but it’s likely they will come back soon enough with clearer minds and maybe shed some light on the situation if they feel that it’s necessary.
