Shroud has revealed what he plans to do with his recent surge in popularity on Twitch: keep playing games for as long as possible.

Shroud has long been among the most popular streamers on Twitch, but the release of Apex Legends has seen another boost to his status.

The viral popularity of the new battle royale hasn’t been limited to the player-base. In turn, fans have looked to Twitch for exceptional players, and the prodigious talent for FPS of the former CS:GO pro along with his already huge platform make him an obvious choice for viewers seeking top-tier Apex Legends content.

Since the release of Apex, shroud has on several occasions seen concurrent viewership surpass the 100,000 mark, and in February was the fastest-growing channel on Twitch.

Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends has already passed more than 50 million players worldwide.

Despite his enormous success of late, however, it seems shroud isn’t interested in using the momentum to try to propel himself beyond the usual sphere of influence for a Twitch streamer.

“A lot of people in my position would probably want to branch out and maybe do more. A lot of people with the luck of the draw that I have here would definitely want to capitalize on the moment and try to branch out, try to expand and get bigger and bigger. I’ll be honest, I don’t care about that, I just want to be able to play video games.”

In many ways, shroud’s position now is reminiscent of Tyler ‘Ninja‘ Blevins’ explosion of popularity during the rise of Fortnite, which carried him to being the top streamer on Twitch. Ninja himself has used the success to make strides into the “mainstream”, playing alongside the likes of Drake and appearing on The Ellen Show for instance.

For shroud, however, such opportunities are not of great interest. Though he recognizes the potential benefits of making the most of his present popularity and the future opportunities doing so could open up, shroud seems quite content simply broadcasting his gameplay to whoever wants to watch.

Fans will be pleased to hear that he has no plans of changing careers, stating “I just want to game until I’m dead. That’s my plan.”
