YouTube star PewDiePie gains an unlikely new ally in the battle against T-Series

YouTube’s biggest star Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg’s battle against Indian music label T-Series has been filled with strange twists along every turn, and a new source of support for the Pewds has added another strange entry to the saga.

PewDiePie has been steadily losing ground in the battle as the site’s most subbed to channel to Indian music label T-Series, which has apparently brought different corners of the internet to unite under the Bro Fist flag.

The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) is a right-leaning political organization who have recently weighed in on their support for the Swedish content creator, sending the internet in confusion.

In a tweet, UKIP was pleading its followers to thwart the sweeping privacy bill called the EU Copyright Directive, while choosing a side in the famous YouTube saga.

“Are you doing your part? Help protect freedom of speech on the internet by sharing and signing this petition against the EU Copyright Directive,” UKIP said. “Also, don’t forget to subscribe to Pewdiepie on YouTube and keep the corporate T-Series from the top.”

Although the move seems out-of-place for the group, the precedent for the endorsement could stem from PewDiePie’s multiple tweets that called on his supporters to rise up against the “meme ban,” aka the EU Copyright Directive.

The Pewds, along with numerous others, have spoken out in opposition to the law that would make rules against sharing content on the internet more strict.

PewDiePie has joined with many unexpected allies in his ongoing struggle against T-Series, and it’s still unclear how this new development will impact the tight race.
