The viral tree-planting project has already attracted some sizeable donations since it first started on October 25, with Elon Musk pledging to help plant over one million and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey contributing 150,000 of his own.

Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke also pledged 1,000,001 trees on October 30, taking him up to top spot in the tree-planting standings. Even with these three wildly successful businessmen still leading the way, Pewds has decided to make a meme-inspired donation of his own.

YouTube: MrBeastMrBeast has been keeping his fans updated on Twitter about recent donations to his tree project.

The Swedish content creator, who recently became the first YouTuber to reach 102 million subscribers on the platform, announced that he had helped the cause on October 31 using his official Twitter account.

“Boomer here who didn’t realize you could leave a message. This is from the 9 year olds,” he tweeted, along with the Team Trees hashtag.

His contribution will see a further 69,420 trees planted as part of the program, which is yet another step in the right direction for MrBeast and his fans, who have been spreading the word on social media since it began.

Of course, meme connoisseurs will immediately notice the significance of that number.

Having so many high profile stars, who all attract mainstream attention, associated with the project will only help get even more on board in the future.

Fans have been asking a whole host of other businessmen and YouTube stars to help plant trees with Mr Beast, who has already confirmed that each one planted will be native to the areas in which they are placed.

They hope to have reached their goal of 20 million trees by January 1, 2020. Will they pull it off? Only time will tell.
