MMA fighter and OpTic content creator Sean O’ Malley has been kicked off the undercard of UFC 229 for an apparently failed drug test.

O’Malley is a 23-year-old rising star in MMA who currently boasts a record of 10-0 despite being removed on a stretcher after a foot injury in his last fight at UFC 222.

In July, OpTic Gaming added him to the organization as a content creator. Since then, he has appeared on podcasts and played Fortnite games with CouRage.

Because of the high-rate of unintentional use cases, the USADA no longer publishes drug infractions, but O’Malley took to Instagram to explain why he wouldn’t be fighting to his fans.

“Even though under the new policy, my case wouldn’t be public right now, I feel it’s important to be upfront and honest with my fans,” O’Malley wrote in a post. “I have no intention of cheating and am fully confident the results of this case will show that.”

Missing out on this fight is an especially tough break for the young fighter.

UFC 229’s main attraction, the highly publicized Lightweight title fight between current champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and fan-favorite Conor McGregor, promises to make UFC 229 one of the most watched cards of the year.
