Despite YouTube stars Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau “unofficially” tying the knot in late July, rumors are already spreading of possible infidelity, as Paul was spotted grabbing lunch with ex-girlfriend Erika Costell in late August.

As incriminating photos of the two went viral online, Mongeau appeared to hint at a response to the drama, posting a cryptic Tweet in wake of the scandal.

“Lmao wtf,” she wrote, further addressing the issue on her Instagram story where she remixed the lyrics to Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next,” singing, “…Even actually got married and for Jake I’m so thankful, except when he goes out with his ex and I find out on Twitter.”

While Paul remained relatively silent on the matter, the social media star may have given a response to the scandal on August 20 with an equally cryptic Tweet.

“Wasn’t me,” Paul posted, inciting a slew of comments referencing Shaggy’s 2000 “It Wasn’t Me” single.

With this in mind, Paul may have been admitting to cheating on Mongeau, as Shaggy’s hit song is all about making up excuses after being caught sleeping with another woman.

However, Jake may have likewise been genuinely denying that he was in the photos with Costell – a possibility backed up by his older brother, Logan Paul.

“Are we SURE that’s Jake…?” Logan wrote of the incident, prompting an avalanche of jokes in the comments section doubting the sincerity of his post

This wouldn’t be the first time Paul has addressed rumors of cheating on his wife, either: the YouTuber squashed claims that he was sleeping with other women during an August 14 vlog, where he claimed he was merely working with other girls on the set of his upcoming music video, “Crush on U.”

Jake’s latest response to the drama follows news that the fight at his wedding was completely staged, with Mongeau herself admitting that their union wasn’t exactly legal, arguing that “legally binding yourself to someone takes away the love.”

With the couple’s friends and family in the dark as to the true nature of their relationship, Jake and Tana’s marriage has been nothing if not confusing for fans and critics alike, with the Costell-related scandal marking the most recent debacle for the couple after going public with their romance.
