After another “fumble” from Tommy Fury, his replacement Hasim Rahman Jr. also pulled out of the fight against YouTube boxer Jake Paul. Here’s when the event was supposed to take place and the drama that led to its cancellation.
Jake Paul and Tommy Fury were initially scheduled to box in late 2021. Fury had been an exceedingly popular opponent for the American YouTuber, as both are influencer-boxers with a similar record.
Unfortunately, a sudden injury caused Fury to pull out of their bout at the last minute, prompting Paul to go for a rematch against former UFC champ Tyron Woodley, instead.
Months later, Paul announced he would be returning to the ring on August 6 with Fury once again lined up. However, due to alleged visa issues, the fight was scrapped once again.
Former training partner and 12-1 boxer Hasim Rahman Jr. stepped in briefly before then backing out over weight cut disputes. Here’s how it unfolded.

Just six days out from the contest, Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr. was officially called off. Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions announced the news on social media, revealing Rahman Jr’s plans to weigh in above the agreed limit of 205lbs.
“First Tommy Fumbled and now Hasim Rahman Crumbled,” Paul said on Twitter. “These boxers are the most difficult people to work with and continually lack professionalism and confidence to fight me.”
For the time being, with multiple opponents failing to make the walk, Paul’s future in the sport is unclear. There’s currently no telling who he may fight next, nor when it will go down.

Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr. was set to take place on August 6, 2022. This was to be his first boxing match since the Woodley KO in December, 2021.
However, just one week out from the event and it was all called off. Paul’s boxing return was officially canceled on July 31.

A full list of fights for the PPV event wasn’t laid out in advance, but Paul did reveale that female boxing legend Amanda Serrano was also set to feature on the card — going up against Brenda Carabajal, a “WBO champion who has never been knocked out.”
Paul also announced that Ashton ‘h20’ Sylve would be on the card before its cancellation, an undefeated teen boxer who is the latest to sign with Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions company.
