Instagram remains one of the most popular places to share the latest snaps from your life, with users staying in touch with friends, family, and followers using the platform.
You can not only share pictures but also video content in a variety of different forms. This could be as a standard post, a story, a reel, and more.
However, just like most platforms, Instagram enforces a limit on how long your videos can be — though this differs for each type of video there is.

As said previously, different types of Instagram video content have different time limits, so you’ll have to bear this in mind when posting a video so you don’t end up having to chop off the end of a clip you’re uploading.
The video time limits on Instagram are as follows:
- Instagram video — If you’re posting a video to your feed, it can be between 3 seconds and 10 minutes in length, however, only a 60-second preview will appear in your followers’ feed, where they’ll be able to choose to watch the video in full.
- Instagram story — Stories you post can be up to 15 seconds, but if you decide to upload a longer video, it will be cut into multiple 15-second chunks.
- Reels — Instagram reels can be anywhere from 15 to 90 seconds long
- Instagram Live — While the limit for Instagram Live used to be an hour, they have since extended that limit to four hours.
