Fortnite pro Dubs issues apology following FaZe suspension

Professional Fortnite player and FaZe member Daniel ‘Dubs’ Walsh has issued a lengthy apology to social media after uttering a racial slur on another gamer’s Twitch stream on February 29.

The offending clip quickly went viral online, prompting FaZe to indefinitely suspend their player and require all members to undergo sensitivity training, as told in their statement shortly after the incident took the net by storm.

Over a month later, the 15-year-old has returned to social media, issuing an apology and updating onlookers as to the results of his sensitivity training.

“I would like to convey how deeply sorry I am to everyone that I hurt through the unjustifiable language that I recently used,” he began his statement. “There are no words to describe the extent of how truly sorry I am.”

The Fortnite pro went on to explain that he was educated about the slur’s history during his sensitivity training and took a step back from competing to examine why he plays Fortnite competitively, discovering that he wants to “play for everyone who supports me and encourages me.”

Finally, Dubs challenged his fans to live by the motto “Think Before You Speak,” and so far, his post has been met with positivity and encouragement from fellow teammates and content creators.

This isn’t the first time Dubs has addressed the matter, either. Dubs’ recent apology echoes the Tweet he published directly after the incident went viral, with the pro similarly writing: “I can’t even describe how sorry I am. I did not intend to be hurtful in any way but what I said was still hurtful, insensitive, and wrong.”

While FaZe themselves have yet to directly comment on this latest development, they did retweet Dubs’ April 2 apology statement, which has since garnered over 6,000 likes at the time of writing, shortly after being published.

Considering the content of his apology, it seems that Dubs will return to competitive Fortnite under a new mindset due to his sensitivity training as mandated by FaZe, although further information regarding his career has yet to be revealed.
