Fortnite pro Clix reveals eye-popping cost of his new streaming setup

Misfits Fortnite Battle Royale star Cody ‘Clix’ Conrod runs one of the most popular streams for the game on Twitch, and while his gameplay is top notch, he’s invested an eye-watering amount of money to get the best equipment possible.

While having top-of-the-line equipment isn’t necessary in becoming the best, it can go a long way to helping you reach your maximum potential in any game. Clix knows that all too well.

Having played on a low-spec setup for years, the Fortnite pro upgraded his kit to the best of the best once he joined Misfits, and now he’s shown off the true cost of it all in a recent interview.

Talking to Whistle Sports, Clix showed off his streaming setup from behind the camera, which was funded by his $260,000 prize money earnings across his Fortnite career.

The Fortnite pro uses a Ninja Finalmouse Air 58 mouse, as well as a Matrix Keyboard with Cherry MX Blue Switches. This isn’t the most expensive mice and keyboard combination you can find on the market, coming in at around $200 a pair, but with plenty of backups in tow, the cost racks up.

Where the cost really starts to ramp up is in his monitors and PC tower. Clix uses a pre-built Alienware tower with a Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics card, coming in at $4,500 alone. On top of that, he upgraded his 60Hz monitor to two 240Hz Alienware monitors at $350 a pop.

Then comes all the small things. The mouse bungee to hold his cable in place set him back $25, while his microphone and camera to enhance his stream experience came in at $110 a piece.

He even bought himself a pair of gaming glasses for $25, which he said has been massively helpful for when he stares at a computer for over ten hours a day. “They’re kind of funky, but it helps me out a lot,” he said.

Finally, the streamer has an array of headphones, ranging from basic all-in-one headsets hanging on his wall, to the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro studio headphones, which can set you back over $200.

Overall, the cost of the set-up shown in the video was around $6,000, but the Fortnite pro said that he has easily spent over $10,000 across his streaming and playing career to keep his equipment up-to-date.

Clix’s streaming setup is being pretty basic on the eye, however it’s one of the most powerful you can find on the market. RTX 2080’s and 240Hz monitors don’t come cheap, and while mice and keyboard combos are up to user preference, Clix maxed out on style and build quality while still being relatively affordable.

The Misfits pro might not have something like Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney’s $3,500 custom build keyboard for Fortnite, but for as far as getting anything ordinary people can buy on the market, it’s one of the most high-end setups out there.
