Dota Underlords is Valve’s officially licensed version of Autochess, which started life as a mod for Dota 2 and inspired other games such as League of LegendsTeamfight Tactics.

With the genre remaining popular on streaming platform Twitch, the developers of the game have announced some major graphical changes that are coming to Underlords, and given fans a look at the new character models that will be added to the game.

What makes the upgraded character models even more exciting is that they haven’t been designed and created by Valve themselves, but rather fans of the Autochess battler are the masterminds behind these improvements.

In a tweet posted on Tuesday, July 30, Valve explained that all of the new character looks have been taken from creators on the Steam Workshop, meaning their hard work will be forever ingrained in the game, and used by hundreds of thousands of players around the world.

Valve are also planning on more skins for Underlords’ characters, advertising a job listing focused on the creation of new models going forward.

Each unit features three versions, with their skin changing depending on their star rating, which also dictates how powerful they will be in combat.

Valve are planning to release more of the redesigned skins in the near future, with the entire set scheduled to be added to the game in the next major update, which also includes a rework to the game’s ranked system that should make it more clear to see how you’re progressing.
