Destiny 2 Ager’s Scepter: How to get exotic Trace Rifle & catalyst in Year 5

Lloyd Coombes

Ager’s Scepter is an exotic Trace Rifle in Destiny 2, so here’s how to get it in Year 5, along with its catalyst.

Destiny 2’s Season of the Lost added the Ager’s Scepter Trace Rifle, but with Bungie vaulting the game’s content, you won’t be able to complete the Tracing The Stars quest in Year 5 of the loot-shooter.

That’s because the quest simply doesn’t exist anymore. Still, it’s still worth pursuing as it’s a great weapon that deals plenty of damage in PvE and PvP.

Here’s how to get Ager’s Scepter and catalyst in Destiny 2 Year 5.

How to get Ager’s Scepter in Destiny 2

The Ager’s Scepter is a cool weapon, and not just because it fires Stasis ammo.

While there used to be a lengthy quest called “Tracing the Stars” that had players collecting Astral Skews throughout the Dreaming City before completing a new mission, things are much simpler now.

For now, you’ll need to head to Destiny 2’s Monument To Lost Lights in the Tower. Once here, you can find Exotic weapons that have had their quests removed.

Head into the Year 4 section and you’ll find the weapon. If you aren’t able to access it, you’ll need to check you’ve purchased the Beyond Light expansion from 2020. The expansion is a prerequisite for getting your hands on the weapon.

As for how much it’ll cost, you’ll need the following:

  • 1 Exotic Cipher
  • 125,000 Glimmer
  • 200 Helium Filaments
  • 1 Ascendant Shard

As a reminder, Xur will offer a weekly quest to earn an Exotic Cipher if you don’t have one already.

Ascendant Shards can be purchased from Rahool the Cryptarch for 10 Enhancement Prisms, 100 Planetary Materials, and 50,000 Glimmer.

How to unlock Ager’s Scepter’s Catalyst in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 Season 15 Astral Alignment Seasonal Activity Dreaming City
Ager’s Scepter catalyst is easy to get, but relies on luck.

Again, getting the Catalyst was a lengthy process back during Season of the Lost, but in Year 5 (post-Witch Queen) you’ll just have to complete activities.

Vanguard Strikes, Nightfalls, Crucible Matches, and Gambit Matches all have a chance to award the Catalyst for the weapon, but you’ll have to rely on luck.

What does the Ager’s Scepter Catalyst do?

The Catalyst adds a perk called “Will Given Form” which overflows the weapon when a Guardian’s Super is full.

This causes increased damage and improved slowing and freezing, but it’ll eat away at your Super to do so. To trigger the perk, hold the reload button (Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, and R on PC).
