Cowboy Bebop cosplayer shows off perfect Fay Valentine

Few anime have become worldwide sensations quite like Cowboy Bebop, and one fan has shown their love for one the series’ best-loved characters with a picture-perfect Faye Valentine cosplay.

Cowboy Bebop may have released back in 1998, but it remains as popular today as ever, with fans still talking about the incredible story of the Bebop, a spaceship made up of a ragtag crew of bounty hunters scouring the galaxy for their next easy paycheck, although it’ll come as no surprise that their missions are never quite as simple as they appear.

The group has five main characters, Jet Black, Spike Spiegel, Edward, Ein, and of course, Faye Valentine, who work together to apprehend criminals in exchange for money. The show follows the crew’s ever-changing dynamic, and for many, Faye became an instant fan-favorite, with viewers across the globe drawn to her story as she finds a new family 50 after spending 50 years frozen in suspended animation.

While Spike and Jet were the originally the only crew on board the Bebop, the rest of the gang joined up as the series progressed, and despite their best efforts to force her to leave, could never persuade Valentine to disembark permanently as she haphazardly helped them on missions as long as she felt like it.

Faye often preferred to take care of her appearance and smoke cigars rather than chases down potential bounties, and while her lax attitude to her job doesn’t sound like traits you would expect from a character with a massive fanbase, her story of an outcast who finds a new family in a place she never expected has captured the hearts of viewers for over 20 years and continues to do so until this day. It’s no surprise that she is often cosplayed then, and Instagram user ‘linlin_cosplay‘ has become the latest to show off their take, and quite possibly the best, we’ve ever seen.

Lin’s take on the character is undoubtedly brilliant, capturing Valentine, with cigarette in hand, in stunning detail that makes it look like it was lifted straight out of the anime. In a set taken in 2019, Linpurple hair sits down to her shoulders, with Faye’s iconic yellow headband keeping it off her face.

She is sporting the same yellow top and shorts bottom, with a red jacket hung on her arms, and even included the black straps that run up and down her torso as an added detail, making the cosplay as close to perfect as you can get.

Fans are able to watch Valentine grow and mature over the course of the show, eventually becoming comfortable with her new friends in an arc that had everyone on the edge of their seats, hoping for a happy ending after spending 54 years frozen and alone in space.

While Cowboy Bebop only ran for 26 episodes, it is an anime that captured the hearts of those who watched it and is still considered to be a masterpiece amongst fans of the genre, often used as a gateway for western viewers to immerse themselves in the world of anime.
