Team Sween and Mindfreak shine as the EU and APAC January 6 CWL 2K tournaments conclude – Recap and results

The January 6 CWL 2K online tournaments have come to a close in both the European and Asia Pacific regions, with rather predictable results.

The APAC 2K competitions have typically ended in a Mindfreak vs Tainted Mind grand final when both teams have been taking part. The only exception to that rule came in the December 16 tournament, where Tainted Minds finished 4th and Mindfreak didn’t compete.

Order was restored in the January 6 edition of the event, as the new-look Mindfreak roster blew through all competition. Despite only recently adding Daniel ‘Swifty’ Hickey and Jai ‘Beastn’ Boone to the roster, Mindfreak defeated their Tainted Minds rivals 3-0 in the grand final.

Losing Swifty to Mindfreak appears to have taken its toll on Tainted Minds. The close rivalry from the start of the Black Ops 4 season now appears to be largely one-sided.

Some of the top European teams, like Red Reserve and Reciprocity, have opted to live in North America for the Black Ops 4 season. With Lightning Pandas also opting not to compete in the January 6 EU 2K, Team Sween were expected to cruise to victory.

Michael ‘Revolt’ Eaton’s pick-up team named ‘Watch Me Whip’ took second position, with The Imperial and Fact Revolution rounding out the top four.
