SnD player 1v5’s new OpTic Gaming roster in Black Ops 4 tournament

OpTic Gaming’s CoD team lost their first ever round of SnD as a roster in Black Ops 4 in style, as an opponent in the $2,500 kickoff tournament killed the entire squad as the last man up.

OpTic’s new squad, bolstered by the additions of SnD masterminds Brandon ‘Dashy’ Otell and Thomas ‘TJHaLy’ Haly, hope to seriously improve their performance in the game mode compared to last season.

Crimsix in fact explained that the main reason they had chosen the young pair, TJHaLy from Rise Nation and Dashy from CompLexity, was for their SnD prowess mainly.

But, in Call of Duty, anything can happen, and the squad lost their first ever round as a team when SnD player ‘Steadyful’ pulled off the 1v5.

More impressive still is that currently, specialists main abilities are banned in SnD tournaments, as the competitive ruleset is still in the works, so this was all straight up gunplay.

Admittedly, Steadyful does get his first kill a fraction of a second before his final teammate drops, but for all intents and purposes, this is a solid 1v5 clutch.

Watching the clip from OpTic’s perspective, they probably got a little over confident after finding themselves with the man advantage, pushing too aggressively.

The new manual healing system was put to excellent use by Steadyful, as he was repeatedly put to within a fraction of death, but got his health back just in time.

Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow loses the final 1v1 after planting, but admittedly couldn’t do much about his bad timing as he clambered through the window opening.

OpTic did go on to win the map however, and the following map, Slums, to advance in the tournament. 

They were later eliminated in the quarter finals by a team featuring Chance ‘Maux’ Moncivaez, Anthony ‘DraMa’ Padilla and top SnD players ‘GorgoKnight’, ‘NUGLECT’ and ‘BigBobbyJinx’.

When Treyarch and the CWL announced the change to 5v5 rather than 4v4 for competitive, players worried that 1v5’s would be extremely rare, but hopefully we will see more clutches like this at major tournaments.
