OpTic Gaming defeated 100 Thieves on November 19 to be crowned champions of the first ever $2,500 ProDown Black Ops 4 tournament, organized by Checkmate Gaming.
Having already defeated 100 Thieves 4-1 in the Winners Bracket finals the day before, OpTic had to only win one of two matches in the grand final to claim overall victory.
100 Thieves, who beat Splyce 3-1 in the Losers finals, came into the grand final knowing they had to win back-to-back matches to win the tournament.
However, OpTic did not allow things to get to that point, as they steamrolled 100 Thieves for the second time in as many days, defeating them 250-203 on Hacienda Hardpoint, 6-3 on Gridlock Search and Destroy, 3-2 on Frequency Control, and 250-62 in Seaside Hardpoint to complete the dominant 4-0 sweep.
This tournament kicked off what many anticipate to be an intense rivalry between the two powerhouse teams, with OpTic holding the quick 2-0 edge over 100 Thieves for now.
The victory also improved the Green Wall to a perfect 3/3 in major online tournaments so far, as they claimed victory in the first two CWL 2K tournaments they competed in.
The CMG ProDown was a double-elimination tournament that featured some of the biggest brand name pro teams in Call of Duty esports.
Eight pro teams were invited to play, facing off against eight challenger teams that qualified via a series of online tournaments hosted by CMG.
The tournament was split into two days; the bulk of the matches were played on day one, with the Losers Bracket semis and finals, as well as the grand finals, reserved for day two.
Here are the scorelines for all of the day two matches:
The final overall placements can be viewed in the table below, along with both the Winners and Losers Brackets. For more information about the tournament, including the full brackets, visit the CMG ProDown webpage HERE.
