Major update coming to Black Ops 4 – weapon balancing, Blackout audio improvements, and more

While Treyarch has put out many updates for Black Ops 4 since the game released on October 12, one of the most important updates thus far is on its way soon.

The weapons balance pass was first detailed by Treyarch in a post on Reddit on October 17, where the developer confirmed they had been gathering data since launch.

That post was the last we heard about the highly-anticipated update until Treyarch made mention of it in the latest update to Black Ops 4.

Speaking at the beginning of the October 24 update, Treyarch confirmed that the balance pass will be included in a major update coming next week.

The team is also working hard on the next major update to the game, currently planned to go live next week. This update will include our first major Multiplayer weapons tuning pass based on all of the data collected since launch, improvements to the audio system in Blackout, and lots more. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the release of this update.

The balance pass isn’t the only thing coming, though, as Treyarch also mentioned improvements to audio in Blackout and “lots more.”

As is customary with any Treyarch update, they talked about a few things they’re currently monitoring for future updates beyond next week’s major one.

Zombies fans should be happy that any pesky stability issues are currently being looked at for a future update.

While the team has tracked down and fixed the majority of crashes in Zombies since launch, we know there are still some particularly tricky ones still out there and we’re dedicated to squashing the rest of them soon. Keep an eye on our bulleted notes with each game update, as “stability improvements across all modes” often includes various crash fixes in Zombies. Thanks for your patience while we continue to nail these down.

Beyond that, some other minor issues such as the bugs surrounding Custom Class 8 for Prestige players and Multiplayer Challenges are being closely monitored by Treyarch.

We’re also currently tracking the following recent topics to address in future updates:

  • Prestige Custom Classes
    • We’re aware that Custom Class 8 and beyond are currently not functioning properly for players who have reached Prestige 2 or higher, and we’re working to fix this in an upcoming update.
  • MP Challenge Bugs
    • We’ve seen reports of a handful of Multiplayer Challenges that aren’t tracking progress properly. We’re investigating and will resolve this in a future update.
  • Zombies Stability
