In the final main stage match of the night, two juggernauts went head-to-head in the winners bracket at CWL Anaheim, as Luminosity and OpTic Gaming faced off.

It was the first meeting of the two teams in an open event after the recent roster changes which saw Sam “Larew” Octane and Matt “FormaL” Piper trade places on the teams.

The two sides did of course face off in the CWL Pro League, a match OpTic dominated and many saw them as a the superior team as a result.

Luminosity’s form struggled after the change, as they looked shaky in the Pro League, but they had clearly improved just in time for Anaheim.

After OpTic won their group with a flawless 4-0 record, they were matched up with LG who completed pool B in second with a 3-1 series record.

It looked like business as usual in the first map, as OpTic were the better team and took an early lead in the series.

But with the caliber of player on Luminosity it seemed like only a matter of time before they would find their form, and they did just that in the Search and Destroy as Johnathan “John” Perez took over with the sniper.

An almost 20 minute CTF saw LG take it in overtime, as both teams went toe to toe, but their momentum clearly carried into the fourth map.

On the second hardpoint on Valkyrie, the entire Luminosity roster went huge, and opened up a lead that OpTic could not surmount.

LG have now secured top 6 going into championship Sunday, while OpTic drop to the losers bracket.
