Leaks Claim 2019 Call of Duty Will Be Modern Warfare 4, Developed By Infinity Ward

Following the news that a number of previous Infinity Ward employees have returned to the studio, an insider source has claimed that they are working on Call of Duty: Modern warfare 4 for release in 2019.

It seems that the hype train for future Call of Duty titles is somewhat getting ahead of itself, as only days after the worldwide reveal of 2018’s Black Ops 4, there is already speculation about what is coming in 2019.

The rumors come only shortly after the news broke of a number of members of the original Infinity Ward team (which developed CoD 4 and MW2) had returned to the studio, departing Respawn entertainment.

Officially, the only insight so far into what is coming is a Tweet from Infinity Ward’s Studio Art Director Joel Emslie, stating that the “next game will be insane”.

However, as reported by GamingIntel, Infinity Ward is developing the fourth instalment in the fan favorite Modern Warfare series, following on from 2011’s Modern Warfare 3.

“One of Gaming INTEL’s exclusive sources has said that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 will be the next title, by Infinity Ward, to release in 2019.

Our sources stated that Call of Duty would release as a “fully fledged” Call of Duty title, with a campaign that is already being worked on, the customary Call of Duty Multiplayer experience and the return of its Zombies mode.

This source also said that Battle Royale was being discussed for Modern Warfare 4, but at that point, it was merely discussions.”

They also highlight the slight slip up from voice actor Craig Fairbrass, who claimed in his Twitter bio that he had worked on ‘Modern Warfare 1/2/3/4’.

Although Fairbrass later attempted to shut down speculation, saying that the ‘4’ was in reference to 2017’s Modern Warfare remastered.

Gaming Intel’s claims have been backed up by Call of Duty news website CharlieIntel, who’s reputation for insider information is well documented.

Of course at this early stage it is very possible that this information does not hold up, but considering the recent recruitment activity at Infinity Ward, and the successful reception of a fourth entry in the Black Ops series, it is likely that MW4 could be on the way.

We are unlikely to get any official word on this until early 2019, when Activision and Infinity Ward will begin to ramp up promotion for whatever the next title is to be.

It is also possible that the rumored Modern Warfare 2 remaster would be packaged with the 2019 Call of Duty, in what will be the 10 year anniversary of the legendary game.
