Group A of the CWL Championship has concluded, with Lightning Pandas and Team Kaliber clinching playoff spots.

In what might be the closest group of the event, only a couple of maps ultimately decided the fate of the three teams in contention for the top two spots.

CWL Pro League Stage 2 champions Team Kaliber suffered an early set-back, losing to Lightning Pandas on day one and narrowly defeating Heretics. As a result, their playoff hopes rested on a big win over Epsilon, which they secured on the second day to lock in second place.

For Lightning Pandas and Heretics, their head-to-head match meant the difference between topping the group, and being eliminated from the tournament. Heretics needed a 3-1 or 3-0 win in order to advance, while Lightning Pandas only needed to win two maps to lock in their spot.

The series started well for Heretics, who opened up with a Hardpoint win and followed it up on SND, putting them within a single map win of advancing to playoffs.

Lightning Pandas, now on the back foot, struck back on Ardennes Forest CTF, before clinching Sainte Marie du Mont to secure the top spot in the group.

Despite a heroic effort, Heretics’ tournament will unfortunately end here, eliminated from Group A alongside Epsilon. Lightning Pandas take the top seed into the playoffs, while Team Kaliber advances in second.
