FormaL was part of the infamous OpTic Gaming roster that won Infinite Warfare’s World Championship back in 2017, to cap off two years of CoD dominance. However, the team experienced an acrimonious split midway through the WWII season, in a year where the Greenwall failed to win a single major tournament.
FormaL has experienced moderate success as part of Luminosity Gaming since then, while the Greenwall have only put up one tournament win, CWL Las Vegas in December 2018.
The OpTic Gaming roster consisting of FormaL, Seth ‘Scump’ Abner, Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow and Ian ‘Crimsix’ Porter won an incredible 13 major championships together, over the course of roughly two years.
Despite the fractious split, FormaL was asked whether he would be open to teaming with them again, while streaming on Twitch on August 23.
“Would you team with any of your old OpTic teammates if given the chance in franchising?” FormaL read. “I don’t know, maybe. Maybe. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.”
The competitive Modern Warfare season will start soon after the game’s late October release, and will see Call of Duty take up a franchise-based model for the first time.
A total of nine franchises have already been confirmed, including rosters in Los Angeles, Paris, Dallas, and Toronto.
Call of Duty's 'rostermania' has already begun, and we can expect to see a lot of changes over the summer as players scramble to find a franchise.
While there are no guarantees that we will see an OpTic reunion, many fans would love the opportunity to see the greatest roster of all time reunite.
However, a new roster would not stick together for nostalgia reasons alone, and a lot would depend on any new team’s ability to recreate the old OpTic’s incredible success.
