It’s starting to look likely that the first gameplay for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare campaign will be shown at Gamescom.

Infinity Ward’s Studio Narrative Director Taylor Kurosaki responded to a question asking when the public will see mission gameplay like the ones showed off behind closed doors at e3 and other events.

Kurosaki’s answer: “Coming up. Soon,” he said on August 3.

While the answer may be vague, it’s actually a pretty big hint if you know where to look. Activision is scheduled to make world premiere content and announcements at this year’s Gamescom on August 19.

When you consider how the question was phrased, it was certainly about what would be considered “world premiere content”

Kurosaki also replied ‘yes’ to a tweet asking, “Are other familiar faces showing up beside captain price like ghost, Gaz, soap and roach?”

The original Modern Warfare campaign is touted as being the best in the entire Call of Duty series with action set pieces ripped right out of a Michael Bay movie. Who could forget fighting through the US Stock Exchange in the opening of Modern Warfare 3 or watching as the Eiffel Tower came crashing down after a battle in Paris?

Clearly, the campaign for Modern Warfare deserves its own announcement separate from the rest of the multiplayer news that was dropped earlier in August.

Gamescom is one of the biggest gaming events of the year, alongside Tokyo Game Show. Not quite E3 level, but it’s where publishers often show off big projects or hype up existing ones.

Additionally, 2K, Bandi Namco, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Sega, Square Enix, and Ubisoft just to name a few, will be premiering new content on Monday, August 19.

Gamescom is open to the public August 21-24 in Cologne, Germany.
