The new Call of Duty community in-game event called ‘Days of Summer’ has also gone live for the Black Ops 3 title.

Live until August 31, Days of Summer will feature special playlists, free to play DLC 1, special weapon camos, and more.

The featured playlists available during the event will feature bonus in-game rewards, such as Double XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double Cryptokey.

These playlists will start and end at 10 AM PT on the days that have been provided in the schedule.

Whether you’re max Prestige or you’re new to Black Ops III, everybody loves a little Double XP. Days of Summer is serving up a smorgasbord of Featured Playlists and global XP events, some of which overlap, giving you a chance to get DOUBLE REWARDS. Here’s a breakdown of how to maximize your matches:

  • July 31 to August 7: Double XP in every map, across MP and Zombies, every day
  • August 3 to 10: Double Cryptokey Free for All Featured Playlist
  • August 7 to 14: Double Weapon XP across MP and Zombies
  • August 10 to 17: Double Cryptokey Uplink Featured Playlist
  • August 14 to 21: Double XP in MP and Zombies
  • August 17 to 24: Double Weapon XP Snipers Only Featured Playlist
  • August 21 to 28: Double Cryptokeys in all MP matches, Double Liquid Divinium in all Zombies games.
  • August 24 to 31: Double XP Search and Destroy Featured Playlist

Also available to be played for free during Days of Summer will be the first DLC pack, which features the four maps Rise, Splash, Skyjacked, and Gauntlet, as well as the Der Eisendrache Zombies map.

Yes, you read that right. For the entirety of Days of Summer in Black Ops III, you’ll be able to play as much DLC 1 Multiplayer and Zombies you can handle.

For all you MP fans out there, you can cool off on the snowy Swiss alps of Rise, make waves in the abandoned waterpark of Splash and enjoy the breeze in your hair as you fly around on Skyjacked. Or get a sample of every climate in the top-secret training facility of Gauntlet.

And, for the Zombie slayers out there, you get to enjoy the awesomeness of Der Eisendrache. Beat back endless waves of Zombies as you make your way through Griffin Castle, nestled in the Austrian Alps.

Furthermore, the Days of Summer event will offer players the chance at getting limited time gear from Supply Drops.

The current special item being offered is the Cherry Fixx Weapon camo, which is available only during the first week of the event.

No summer celebration would be complete without some limited time gear and amazing deals on supply drops. Like right now, the limited time Cherry Fizz Weapon camo is available in Supply Drops, but only for the first week of Days of Summer. There’s more limited time loot to come, but you’ll have to check the game for updates – after all, we wouldn’t want to spoil any surprises.

And who knows – some amazing deals on bundles may pop up for those looking to personalize their loadout.  And with so many Double Cryptokey Playlists coming down, you’re sure to have plenty of loose Crypto laying around to grab yourself something nice for the summer.

The Days of Summer in-game community event was initially announced for CoD: WWII on July 31, featuring a variety of new modes, playlists and content.

In addition to Black Ops 3, the event has also gone live in two other previous CoD  titles – Modern Warfare Remastered and Infinite Warfare.

CoD Mobile devs explain why Overkill perk hasn’t been added yet

The Call of Duty Mobile devs have shed a little bit more light on why the Overkill perk hasn’t been added just yet despite being teased for a few seasons now.

With each new Call of Duty Mobile season, fans of the game are treated to a whole batch of new content, typically including a new weapon, new map, new skins, and a new character.

Back in CoD Mobile Season 8, the Overkill perk was supposed to be added alongside Quick Fix and Shrapnel. Though the other two made it in, Overkill was left locked until being removed not too long ago.

The removal of the perk, which has been a staple in other CoD titles, has had fans questioning whether the devs are getting rid of it entirely, and now, they’ve shed a little more light on what’s happened.

Overkill was listed a perk for CoD Mobile but was never available.

Following their October 29 Community Update, where they revealed some additional content for Halloween, as well as going over bug fixes for the current season, the devs were quizzed on plenty of different topics – including Overkill.

Players asked if it was still in the works and if they had any further info to add, given that players have been waiting quite a while to see it. “No, not yet. Still the same situation as before where we aren’t quite comfortable enough with weapon balance after the introduction of Gunsmith,”  the devs replied.

Adding on to that, they continued: “We need weapon balance to be damn near perfect before we drop Overkill into the mix since that can have a huge effect on weapon balance as well.”

Given that the power of balancing is in the hands of the devs, there’s no telling as to when the mobile game will be balanced enough for Overkill to be introduced.

Fans who have been waiting for the perk will be hoping that this day comes sooner rather than later, but, we’ll just have to wait and see.
