CoD Pros reveal their top 5 Call of Duty’s of all time – Crimsix, Karma, Censor and More

A handful of Call of Duty pros have revealed their top 5 lists for the best CoD titles of all time, with some varying results.

The latest release, Black Ops 4, is the 15th main entry in the series, not counting spin-off’s and remasters, meaning there is now a lengthy list of candidates for the best ever.

Different sub-franchises also compete, such as the Modern Warfare series vs the Black Ops series, but which individual game’s were the best in CoD’s long history?

Top professional players, many of whom have been playing for over a decade, have had their say, but almost none of them agree.

It’s unclear how the trend first began, but OpTic Gaming’s Ian ‘Crimsix’ Porter posted his top 5 list on Twitter, with other pro’s following.

Crimsix, the winningest CoD player of all time, surprised some by placing Black Ops 4 in his list, despite the game having only released months ago. Both the original Black Ops and Black Ops III are conspicuously missing from his list, with Advanced Warfare perhaps his most controversial pick.

Team Envy player Justin ‘SiLLY’ Fargo, an over ten-year veteran of competitive CoD, had high praise for the first two Black Ops titles, placing them at 1st and 2nd.

The most surprising selection here is Infinite Warfare, which beats out Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare 2 and other favorites to take fifth spot on SiLLY’s list.

Former professional player and popular YouTuber Doug ‘Censor’ Martin also gave his picks, with a rare World at War pick in the top spot.

Censor clearly favors the older titles, with the most recent release on his list being 2012’s Black Ops II. He explained his World at War pick by saying it was “personal nostalgia”.

3 time world champion Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow also threw in his list, which also focused on last generation titles.

His top three titles all come from the Modern Warfare series, with only Black Ops II representing the BO series in his list. Again World at War sneaks in to take fifth.

Finally, eUnited’s James ‘Clayster’ Eubanks decided to (we presume) troll his followers with some very unorthodox picks. 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII makes the top of list, for example – something tells us that Clayster didn’t exactly intend his picks to be taken seriously.

Update: Clayster has now provided his actual list, with some much more expected picks.

Of course, there is and never will be a definitive answer to such a subjective question, but at least these lists can give us a general consensus of what the pros like best in a Call of Duty.

With Infinity Ward up next in the development cycle, and a new entry in the Modern Warfare series expected, perhaps there will be a new contender?
