A number of rumors from the Call of Duty community about Modern Warfare 2 Remastered have narrowed down an announcement and release date, off the back of correctly predicting CoD: Warzone.
Leaker and YouTuber TheGamingRevolution is one source for these rumors, having correctly predicted or leaked a number of CoD features before they were official – such as Modern Warfare’s Gunfight mode – in the past.
He has been criticized by Infinity Ward for fabricating information in the past, but has since discussed Warzone in detail, much of which has turned out to be accurate.
In a March 12 tweet, he provided a list of games that are in the works at Activision, Call of Duty’s publisher.
Among other titles, TGR claims that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will come, alongside a free-to-play CoD title developed by Sledgehammer Games. These will be on top of the 2020 CoD title, which will be developed by Treyarch.
He also supplemented his tweet to confirm that a “follow up” to Modern Warfare is being worked on.
Some Activision games in the works: Tony Hawk Proskater Remastered, Call of Duty 2020 (code-named PROJECT: ZEUS), MW2 Remastered, a F2P COD game from SHGames (2021 ETA), a PvP Crash game, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex Remastered

These leaks from TheGamingRevolution have been supplemented by more information from Okami, another Call of Duty leaker. Okami was one of the earliest leakers to claim MW2 remastered is on the way, with their initial claims coming at the end of February.
However, Okami added to their predictions with more information on a potential remaster, explaining that they expect an announcement in the next two to three months, with a release coming in 2020.
When is MW2 remastered coming out?
This would put the announcement during May or June, slightly later than the time of year we have come to expect CoD hints and leaks regarding the next title in the series.
If an announcement was made around that time, a release date would likely follow in late 2020, around November time.
It is not clear whether the remaster would be released alongside Treyarch’s CoD 2020, or would be a standalone title. Back in 2016, Modern Warfare Remastered was released alongside Infinite Warfare.
It’s coming this year. I expect official announcement/teaser in 2-3 months. Probably along with COD 2020 announcement but that’s an educated guess.

While unconfirmed, Okami correctly predicted a number of Warzone features, as well as the March 10 release date. This does not necessarily confirm their most recent claims, but does provide evidence of a track record.
If the leaks are to be believed, Activision have an incredible amount of Call of Duty related content on the way to fans.
In March 2018, two years ago now, the first leaks of a Modern Warfare 2 Remaster were revealed, but things have been relatively quiet since. We will continue to bring you the latest on an MW2 remaster as it becomes available.
