The AK-47 is a powerful option when it comes to assault rifles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer, so we’ve put together some of the best loadouts and attachment combinations for a variety of different play-styles.

One of the most recognizable weapons in history, the AK-47 assault rifle, has proven to be a very viable choice in Modern Warfare multiplayer.

While its recoil and slow rate of fire could take time to get used to, its ruthless power makes it dominant in many different kinds of gunfights.

The AK does unlock at level 53, so new players will need to put in quite a bit of playing time if they want to use it, but the grind is definitely worth it for one of the stronger guns in the game.

The great thing about it too is that certain combinations of attachments can actually turn it into almost totally different weapons, like the AK-74u SMG and RPK LMG, details about both of which can be found below.

So, without further ado, here are the best classes for the AK-47 to use with five different play-styles – run-and-gun, slow and powerful, balanced, stealth, and Overkill.

Best run-and-gun AK-47 class (AK-74u)

Infinity Ward

ATTACHMENTS

  • Barrel: 8.1″ Compact Barrel
  • Laser: 5mW Laser
  • Stock: Skeleton Stock
  • Ammunition: 5.45 x 39mm 30-Round Mags
  • Perk: Sleight of Hand

SECONDARY – Combat Knife

PERKS

  • Perk 1: Double Time
  • Perk 2: Ghost
  • Perk 3: Battle Hardened

EQUIPMENT

  • Lethal: Semtex
  • Tactical: Stim

FIELD UPGRADE: Dead Silence

While running and gunning with an assault rifle isn’t really recommended in Modern Warfare, if there’s one AR to do it with it’s the AK-47. That’s because the weapon can actually be turned into a faster-paced gun resembling the AK-74u SMG using a few key attachments.

Of course, the huge boosts to fire rate and mobility mean that accuracy, damage, range, and control slightly take a hit, but those stats aren’t really needed if your plan is to run around.

The 5mW Laser really improves the weapon’s agility and hip-fire accuracy, and it’s not really a concern that it gives your position away. The Sleight of Hand weapon perk is also key here since it considerably improves the reload speed so that you can quickly get back into the action.

The Combat Knife and Double Time perk both help improve movement speed, and the Stim tactical is very useful when you don’t have time to let your health regenerate on its own.

Best slow and longer-range AK-47 class (RPK LMG)

Infinity Ward

ATTACHMENTS

  • Barrel: 23.0″ RPK Barrel
  • Optic: Integral Hybrid
  • Stock: Field LMG Stock
  • Underbarrel: Bipod
  • Ammunition: 75 Round Drum Mags

SECONDARY – M19 Handgun

PERKS

  • Perk 1: E.O.D
  • Perk 2: High Alert
  • Perk 3: Tune Up

EQUIPMENT

  • Lethal: Claymore
  • Tactical: Smoke Grenade

FIELD UPGRADE: Stopping Rounds

Much like the AK-74u from the previous class, this set of attachments also turns the AK-47 into almost a whole new weapon – a powerful mini-LMG that resembles the iconic RPK.

This class is the polar opposite of the last one, in that it heavily prioritizes accuracy, damage, and control, with mobility being the stat that takes the huge hit.

Since this class is designed for longer-range gunfights, the Integral Hybrid optic sight helps with your accuracy, while the M19 Handgun comes in very handy should you be forced into a closer-range encounter.

As for the rest of the class, the High Alert perk notifies you if you’re getting pushed from a blind angle, while Tune Up helps you get your Field Upgrade faster, which should most definitely be Stopping Rounds.

You will be able to watch your own back with a Claymore, and if things start to get too messy around your position, the Smoke Grenade is perfect for a quick getaway.

Best balanced AK-47 class (for objective modes)

Infinity Ward

ATTACHMENTS

  • Muzzle: Muzzle Break
  • Barrel: Spetsnaz Elite
  • Stock: Skeleton Stock
  • Underbarrel: Tactical Foregrip
  • Rear Grip: Rubberized Grip Tape

SECONDARY – JOKR Launcher

PERKS

  • Perk 1: E.O.D or Quick Fix
  • Perk 2: Pointman or Ghost
  • Perk 3: Battle Hardened

EQUIPMENT

  • Lethal: Semtex
  • Tactical: Stun Grenade

FIELD UPGRADE: Trophy System

This class is for those who want to use a more balanced AK-47 setup, as the attachments give accuracy, range, mobility, and control all a relatively even boost while making sure none of the other stats get reduced.

The weapon setup itself isn’t limited to any single mode, as it’s viable for a variety of uses, but the rest of the class is ideal if you’re playing objective-based modes.

The JOKR Launcher is great for taking out enemy streaks, while the Trophy System Field Upgrade is very useful in mitigating enemy equipment.

As for the perks, you have a variety of options. E.O.D is obviously good for making sure enemy equipment doesn’t kill you, but Quick Fix might be the way to go if you’re one who likes to capture objectives.

For perk two, Pointman helps get streaks a lot faster, since a lot of what you do in these modes earns you points, but Ghost is also useful if you tend to flank the enemy team using less-crowded routes.

Best stealthy AK-47 class

Infinity Ward

ATTACHMENTS

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Laser: 1mW Laser (not pictured)
  • Stock: FORGE Tac Ultralight
  • Underbarrel: Tactical Foregrip
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip Tape

SECONDARY – 0.50 GS Handgun

PERKS

  • Perk 1: Double Time
  • Perk 2: Ghost
  • Perk 3: Tune Up

EQUIPMENT

  • Lethal: Semtex
  • Tactical: Smoke Grenade

FIELD UPGRADE: Dead Silence

For players who want to be on the move but don’t really have the skill or reaction time to go full run-and-gun, this class gives you the ability to play that style.

Much like the previous loadout, this combination of attachments really does a nice job in making sure several stats get small boosts without reducing any of the others.

The Monolithic Suppressor, Double Time and Ghost help move around swiftly and not get detected, while Tune Up ensures that you get Dead Silence more frequently.

The 0.50 GS pistol carries its own weight in terms of packing a punch, and the Smoke Grenade can stir even more confusion among enemies, or provide you with a quick exit if you need one.

Best Overkill AK-47 class

Infinity Ward

Overkill is even stronger in Modern Warfare than in the previous Call of Duty titles because there’s no pick-10 system, meaning you can technically have two primary weapons each stacked with the maximum five attachments.

If you want to go the Overkill route with the AK-47, then it’s best to pick a build from one of the classes above and pair it up with a primary weapon that has an opposite-style function.

For example, you can use the AK-74u ‘run-and-gun’ build with a longer-range gun, like a Sniper Rifle or Marksman Rifle. On the flip side, you can pair the slower mini-LMG setup with a faster-paced weapon, such as the MP7 SMG (pictured above), or the annoying 725 shotgun.

In either case, your best bet is to use Amped as your third perk, since it speeds up weapon switching, while the equipment and Field Upgrade is really up to you, and depends on your preferred style.

Infinity WardThe AX-50 Sniper Rifle would be an ideal Overkill pairing with the AK-47’s faster SMG build.

There you have it – the five best classes and attachment setups for the AK-47 assault rifle. Now, load back into the game, build some of these loadouts in multiplayer, and let us know what you think!
