Respawn reveal staggering number of Apex Legends hackers they’ve banned so far

Respawn Entertainment, the developers of Apex Legends, have revealed just how many hackers have been banned on PC since the game launched in February 2019.

If you’re a PC Apex Legends player then chances are you’ve run across a hacker in at least one of your games whether you realized it or not.

The developers have been hard at work getting rid of them, and the number of banned players has now reached staggering heights according to the newly release numbers.

Apex Legends now has over 700,000 banned players

Respawn updated the community with their progress on handling cheaters for Apex Legends by saying they have now banned 770,000 players overall and blocked over 300,000 accounts from being created.

The blocked accounts are probably cheaters who were banned previously but tried to create new accounts. Players did complain about receiving hardware bans so this could be an example of that in action.

Here’s the complete look at the stats that Respawn revealed to the public.

• The recently added in-game reporting tool has had a big impact on discovering new cheats, including previously undetectable cheats that are now being found automatically via EAC
• Total bans are now at 770K players
• We have blocked over 300K account creations
• We have banned over 4,000 cheat seller accounts (spammers) in the last 20 days
• Total affected matches on PC impacted by cheaters or spammers has been reduced by over half in the last month due to recent efforts

There’s still a long way to go

Despite all of these accounts being banned, players still run into hackers quite often but Respawn says additional steps to prevent cheaters are still on the way.

Hackers are still a constant problem and a source of numerous complaints so it’s good to see Respawn being transparent about this dilemma.

They said another update will be provided next week to address the missing footsteps audio that was brought up by the community.
