Respawn launched their new project on February 4 with very little pre-launch advertising, but has since surged in popularity to the point where it’s already competing with both Fortnite and PUBG for concurrent players.

With so much speculation about how Apex Legends could provide fresh competition for some of the industry’s biggest games right now, one of Epic’s most high profile figures has shared his opinion on it.

Not only does Mark Rein, the Co-Founder and Vice President of Epic Games, approve of Respawn’s new battle royale experience, but it looks like he’s been playing it as well.

“I tried it,” he said, after being recommended the game on Twitter by another user. “Yes it’s very good,” Rein added, in a brief interaction with a fan.

Having achieved tremendous success with Fortnite, the CEO of Respawn Vince Zampella was clearly delighted by the comments from Rein.

“Means a lot coming from you Mark!” he tweeted. “I believe I owe you drinks next time we meet up!”

A number of pro players have already threatened to quit Fortnite because of decisions that have been made by the developer, such as keeping the overpowered Hand Cannon in the game.

On that note, Apex Legends has the potential to compete with other popular battle royale games right now. Whether or not it will continue to grow remains to be seen.
