Apex Legends devs respond to Dropship instant death issues in Season 4

Respawn Entertainment have acknowledged a major issue with Apex Legends Season 4’s new Planet Harvester location on the World’s Edge map, which is causing players to die while still in the Dropship.

As expected, there was a lot of hype surrounding the highly-anticipated launch of Season 4: Assimilation, which added a slew of new content and made major changes to the battle royale.

One of those changes included the addition of the Planet Harvester point of interest, a massive, multi-level mining facility located at the heart of the map.

Respawn EntertainmentPlanet Harvester is the biggest new addition to the World’s Edge map in Apex Legends Season 4.

One of the distinct features of the Planet Harvester is the red beam that protrudes from the station and can be seen from the entire island, something which Respawn hope will “give players a better sense of direction and understanding of the center of the map.”

Unfortunately, this function has proved to be much more of a nuisance than what it’s worth, and is the cause of one of Season 4’s first major issues.

Whenever the initial Dropship’s flight path happens to go through the beam, players who are still on the aircraft as it crosses the light suffer instant death.

Respawn’s response to Dropship instant death problem

Needless to say, this issue is pretty annoying because it can impact matches right from the start, effectively forcing players to jump from the ship earlier than they would like just to avoid dying.

Shortly after this was brought to the forefront by players on social media and Reddit, a card acknowledging the matter was added to the official Apex Legends Trello page.

It’s currently labeled as ‘Investigating,’ so there’s no time-table on when this problem will get fixed, but at least Respawn have responded to it and are looking for a solution.

It’s definitely unfortunate that this issue exists, because it has taken away from an otherwise well-received set of changes to the World’s Edge map.

The Apex Legends community seems to have mostly regarded these map tweaks positively, especially considering how Respawn have worked to diffuse some of the more hotly-contested drops.

Apex Legends Season 4: Assimilation is now available for free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
