Popular Twitch streamer AnneMunition encountered a strange interaction in Apex Legends with Octane’s Jump Pad Ultimate, which didn’t make the ability work as intended.

Respawn’s battle royale has a roster of Legends who bring their own playstyles to the Apex Games. While there are more defensive and support-minded characters, Legends like Octane are meant to create plays out of nothing with their ability kit.

However, things didn’t work out too well for AnneMunition, seeing as she was looking to make a big play on an incoming squad, which would’ve worked to perfection – but the game didn’t let her.

Respawn EntertainmentAnneMunition was stopped in her tracks when trying to make a leaping play with Octane in Apex Legends.

During her December 10 stream playing as Octane, Anne found herself on the low ground when her teammate was suddenly engaged by an attack team.

Luckily, the Adrenaline Junkie’s ultimate was fully charged, so the streamer immediately threw it down to hoist herself into the heat of battle.

While the lift of a Jump Pad would have AnneMunition at the perfect height and trajectory to take the other team by surprise, the Ultimate didn’t give her much lift at all.

A second attempt yielded the exact same results, so she had to abandon the plan and find another way to scale the building.

But the straightforward approach got her quickly downed, seeing as the enemy squad had already rotated around that side of the structure.

After being quickly eliminated, Anne tried to make sense of what happened, but was still perplexed by the interaction.

Respawn EntertainmentThe play with Octane could have yielded great results, but a glitch prevented anything from happening.

“I went to Jump Pad above them, and right where my Jump Pad was, apparently there’s an invisible wall or something,” she said. “… I thought that maybe I missed it the first time so I tried it again, and I don’t know. I must have had a defective Jump Pad, I guess.”

In both of her leaps, it looks like the jump’s path cuts shortly before takeoff – reducing her launch down to a glorified hop.

It’s unclear if there was a glitch with the Jump Pad or if an invisible element was blocking AnneMunition’s path.

Either way, this would be something the Respawn devs would look to fix, seeing as the bug essentially rendered Octane’s Ultimate useless.
