The potential addition of a new character by the name of Rampart was initially leaked back on February 26, when a list of many unreleased Legends, including Octane and Wattson, had initially been uncovered.

More evidence has been leaked by popular data miner, That1MiningGuy, suggesting the new Legend that Respawn Entertainment are working on could soon be ready for action after uncovering the character’s in-game abilities.

Respawn EntertainmentWattson is the latest character to be added into Apex Legends, but more are on the way.

The first of Rampart’s leaked abilities is called “Amped Cover” and will likely see the champion building a short wall for cover in-game which “provides a damage boost to anyone standing near it.”

It has also been revealed that this wall will be available to be picked up and placed again on the ground for players who could make use of some cover while traveling through some of the open plains of King’s Canyon.

The second of the new Legend’s abilities leaked include a placeable turret titled as “My Friend Maxim” that players will be able to drop anywhere for their themselves or their squad to make use of.

All Rampart abilities in Apex Legends

According to the leaked game files, which are possibly still in development and subject to change, Rampart’s abilities in Apex Legends are as follows:

  • Amped Cover – Builds cover that provides a damage boost to anyone standing near it, can be picked up and moved.
  • My Friend Maxim – Places a mounted machine gun that anyone in the squad can use, uses heavy ammo.
  • Fixer – Swapping to melee equips a wrench players can use to repair structures.
  • Cover Fire – Firing from the Amped Cover overcharges your weapon damage.
  • Gunner – LMG’s have increased magazine capacity and reload faster

Rampart’s placeable turret appears to make use of heavy ammo for its rounds, so players will likely have to stock up quite a bit during games once this Legend is released, “Place a mounted machine gun that anyone in the squad can use. Uses heavy ammo.”

That1MiningGuy also revealed that another upcoming character Crypto may be able to hack these turrets with his abilities, claiming that he also has some turret handling skills in his code. “I actually think that these are the turrets that will be interfaceable by Crypto, whether he’ll be able to take control of them or hack them and blow them up.”

Another one of Rampart’s leaked abilities is called “Fixer” allowing him to wield a wrench which could be used to repair some of his own turrets, “swapping to melee equips a wrench you can use to repair structures.

Rampart also has an ability called “Cover Fire,” and the description of the ability adds to the claims that the use of his cover wall can provide a damage boost, “Firing from cover overcharges your gun damage.

The final ability which was leaked was titled “Gunner,” which could possibly be Rampart’s passive ability, increases magazine capacity and shortens reload times when the Legend is wielding a light machine gun.

It is unknown as of yet, which order these abilities will be in when it comes to the character’s passive and ultimate abilities with That1MiningGuy claiming that Rampart could have more than one passive ability due to the nature of those leaked already.

The legend is expected to join the queue behind two other legends Respawn have teased, Crypto and Rosie which many fans expect to be released for Season 3, before making an appearance in-game.
