OpTic Gaming make it back-to-back titles with victory over eUnited in Texas.
The two teams met for the second successive final on North American soil, this time with OpTic Gaming emerging victorious.
OG kicked off the tournament with a flawless Friday, finishing up day one of the competition with a 9-0 map record, including a clean sweep of EnVyUs in the latest eClasico.
A 3-1 win over TGC at the start of Day Two saw OpTic into the Championship Winner Bracket, where tougher opponents awaited.
Both Luminosity and Splyce took OpTic Gaming to game five but neither could overcome the CWL Paris Champions, who booked a place in the Winner Bracket Final.
For the second event in a row, OpTic Gaming were to face FaZe in the Winner Bracket Final and yet again, OG swept their rivals in another 3-0 Final.
And so, with eUnited recovering from their defeat to FaZe to eliminate EnVyUs, Splyce and finally FaZe Clan, OpTic and eUnited were to face off again.
OpTic’s hot streak continued into the first map as eUnited became the latest members of the 100 point club.
OpTic then took an early 2-0 advantage, aided by eUnited giving up a 5-1 on map 2, to go one map away from their second title.
eUnited though, weren’t done. Three consecutive maps went the way of the CWL Atlanta champions to push the Grand Final to a second series.
It was déjà vu in the second series. OpTic Gaming again took a 2-0 lead and again, eUnited rallied to tie things up and force another game five.
The suitably named Scorch was the final resting place of eUnited. In a series where the two teams were barely separable, OpTic Gaming finally took home the title with a dominant 6-0 win.
In winning the CWL Dallas title, OpTic Gaming won back to back titles for the first time since taking home the ESWC 2016 and MLG Anaheim 2016 titles in Black Ops 3.
eUnited, meanwhile, have proved without question that they’re one of the hottest teams on the circuit right now.
The CWL Global League guarantees to be an exciting affair. That’s it for Dallas. There’s plenty more Call of Duty to come this season.
